No mom should be without a baby carrier! They are incredibly useful if you have a baby or toddler that loves be held, and they are such a relief on tired arms and backs.
Baby carriers are certainly worth the investment–especially if they are made with quality materials and are able to carry your baby from birth through toddlerhood. Beco offers wonderful baby carriers made in the USA with high quality 100% organic cotton material. And, the Beco Butterfly 2 Baby Carrier fits babies 7-45 lbs., which means it’s the only carrier you’ll ever need! I was thrilled when Beco sent me one of their Butterfly 2 carriers to review. With all the rave reviews their carriers receive, I couldn’t wait to see what it was like!
The Beco Butterfly 2 Carrier is a snap-on soft structured baby carrier. I found it very comfortable and it actually fit my petite shoulders and frame a LOT better than other baby carriers I have tried (I’m just 5’3″ tall). The shoulder pads are very soft and comfy, with enough thickness to really aid my shoulders and back. I like the width of the shoulder pads a lot–they are wide enough to add ample support, but not so wide that they hang off my shoulders (which is a problem with other carriers).
Putting the carrier on is a breeze. Basically all you have to do is buckle the chest strap (which actually goes in the back if you are wearing baby on front), slid the carrier over your head and arms, and then buckle the waist belt. Then lift the baby up to position, and pull the front panel up over baby and snap both top sides with the safety buckles. Then you’re ready to go! The carrier comes with a step-by-step instruction guide with pictures that is SO easy to follow. I didn’t even have to read the instructions–I just followed the pictures and it was so simple!
One of my very favorite features the Beco Butterfly 2 has is the inside panel that goes between you and the baby. This panel allows you to easily and quickly switch the baby from front carry to back carry (or vice versa), without taking the baby out or taking the carrier off! After you have baby in the front carrier position, basically all you do is unbuckle the chest strap, take your arms out of the shoulder straps, twist the carrier around so baby is on your back, put your arms back in the shoulder straps and re-buckle the chest strap. SO easy. I have a hard time getting Baby M in the back-carry position on other baby carriers without enlisting my husband or someone else to help me. With the Beco Butterfly 2, I can quickly do it by myself and it’s not a big deal at all! Awesome!

The Butterfly 2 also comes with a newborn insert for babies under 15 lbs. This insert attaches inside the carrier with touch-tape and snap clips. The insert is very easy and quick to attach or remove. Baby M is 16 months and 25 lbs. so he is far past the need for the newborn insert, but I will look forward to using this great feature with baby #2 someday!
I love that the carrier is made in the USA and with 100% organic cotton. You can tell even just by looking at the stitching and the general quality-feel of the carrier that this isn’t one of the cheaper, made-in-China baby carriers. It is very high quality, and after using it, I definitely feel that the price tag on these carriers is worth it. You get exactly what you’re paying for!
I chose the Butterfly 2 in the Foxie Black print. I wanted something gender-neutral, yet pretty, and I think this print really hits the mark for those qualities. The carrier comes in several other different prints as well as solid colors too.
The Butterfly 2 carrier comes with a detachable hood that provides shade and protection from sunlight, rain and wind, and also offers more privacy for breastfeeding. I like that it’s very quick to snap-on or remove. The bottom of the carrier has a storage sleeve for the hood, which I’ve found can also be used for my cell phone which is handy. I wish that the carrier came with actual pockets though (or at least one big pocket), for keys, phone, wallet, burp cloths, pacifier, etc. I hope they will add pockets on future models.

Overall I’m loving the Beco Butterfly 2 Baby Carrier! It fits me better than any other soft-structured snap-on carrier I have tried, it looks stylish, and it’s comfortable for both me and Baby M. I love how easy it is to switch from front to back carrying, and I love the quality materials and buckles. I’m excited to have a carrier that will continue fitting Baby M through toddlerhood and start fitting our next child as a tiny newborn. I would highly recommend the Beco Butterfly 2 if you are looking for a high-quality, well-fitting, easy-to-use carrier!

I am a wife to my wonderful husband of 5 years and a stay-at-home mom to our two amazing little boys (Big M is 2 years old and Little M is 6 months old). When I'm not cleaning the house, playing with the boys, or changing diapers, I love to shop, sew, watch movies, sleep (ha!), and of course write in my blog!
